Friday, Month of the Sun ~461. Fjordlan's dealings with pirates is soon not the only conflict as blood and steel clash elsewhere clearly these are troubled times. Mournwell just now peeking at the world to see what she has to offer.

Fjordlan's expedition finally reaches shore, however the crews morale takes a blow when they find that they've landed at a frozen tundra. They find shorty after an old abandoned dock, the only thing they find is two crates filled with pornography. Morale is improved.
Meanwhile the Pirate Ship bearing the "thunder guns" has arrived in harbor at the mainland of Fjordlan.

Hypothia's ships continue exploring the islands around Hypothia. The isle to the east of the Knife ears is found to have a delicious species of boar that can be simply domesticated. However to the south a civilization of primitives(Bronze age) is discovered and diplomacy fails. The resulting conflict sees every member of the ships crew killed or captured. Word gets back to Hypothia that the Primitives are planning to sacrifice the remaining crew to appease their wicked Dog God, Giegam Oroz. Back at the Knife Ear's Island Line Breaker Byron Torchman duels a veteran Rage warrior known as the Sarathai. Both sides are shocked as the match is close as ever, Torchman pulls a victory even after losing his left arm. The Sarathai ask for the honor of fighting along side such warriors in search of a foe that they may perfect their fighting style against. Hypothia gains 1 regiment of Sarathai. It is also discovered that the Sarathai's island is home to a large iron vein. Other Islands have plenty of lumber though it is not ship worthy.

Mournwell's Spies head north reaching finally exiting the swamps only to find a blasted wasteland and the ruins of some city made with elegant stone carving. Amidst the beautiful artwork the spies manage to scavenge high powered crossbows. By the time they returned all of them had gotten some unknown illness, it wasn't contagious but it caused hair loss and enfeeblement followed by death.

Minues' quest for the ultimate hipster band reached a tragic point as the expedition ran into Large Mantis Slavers(approx. 2.1m) Although they had no weapons the Mantises attacked in large masses to the beat of "Welcome to the Jungle" and "TNT". The expedition suffered heavy casualties and many were taken prisoner. Back on the home front the Farmers were "super stoked" about being able to grow their organic 0 waste gardens with less effort required.

Sarathai or Dagg-ears: a new and most interesting people found south of Is-Land, on a boggy land. they are masters of the sword and are quite proud of it, it seems that this need for the blade is in their very physiology as they have sharpened ears as well as reactions. After the honorable Sir Byron Torchman fought them in battle they have pledged to fight with us in battle, shurly they will be a fine addition to the NA

Sir, we have discovered a ship with these magnificent guns that the men have begun to call thunder guns.
Oh, i do quite like these in deed. Tell the men to figure out how they work and outfit them on some ships, get the guild of learned men and inventors on that.. As for the idea that pirates can just attack us when they please.... train 1000 men in the art of ship warfare, make use of the acadamy that is to be built soon.

It appears as if the expedition didn't go quite as planned, it seams as if the outsiders of mineus play the music of the fore runners before them and are just as structured and aggressive as they ever were. We need to find a new way to combat these people that enslaved the band because that's like totally not cool man I mean come on, they are prob forced to eat a lot of carbs while they leave a giant carbon footprint and we totally can't have any of that. We shall do research on what happened and raise awareness for their heinous crimes, esp listing to that music of old.
Research : way to combat this threat, gear to give out to explorers to help them survive this new area
Build : infrastructure to build the new research
actions : send small scouting parties to try and collect and gather information about the assailant, if they can send some sort of assassin to capture one alive, dead if need be.

The Council, pouring over history texts, advised Drago to begin whipping the Mournweld forces, which were already very significant, into shape for possible war.
Drago urged his generals to prepare for a primarily defensive stance.

The Fourth Athor, chancellor of the Rebel Region, responded to Commander Drago's writ of battlehood. The assassins in Athor Sin revved up their training.

Thestus, Magnus, and Sifrin, the three Blades, were ordered to command their forces.

Midneus Kur, governor and battlemaster of Koralis, threw his soldiers into the mires of Koralis to toughen them up. The steel clad, humble paladins set to grievous work.

And of course, the guerilla force militia of Mournweld (consisting of almost every citizen) sharpened their ancestral blades and set about hunting Rithkin for their hide.

Projected Units:

Mourn Guerilla: Armored in Rithkin hide. Hooked scimitars doused in lethal poison. Hit and run tactics, camouflage, sabotage, stealth

Athor Assassins: Advanced Mourn Guerilla. Highly trained in stealth, toxins, and subterfuge.

Koralis Mercenaries: Heavily armored tanks. Fed since birth with Itherius milk. Strong, fast. Trained in taking severe beatings. Koralis soldiers start their initiation by being fed venomous krill. Then they must survive the mires of Koralis for a week before returning and being beaten for half a day.

(If too much, training first, then research for weapons and armor. I suspect a training bonus from their already war-centric culture. All this taking place while steam research continues in the Athor labs.)

Sunday, Month of Harvest ~461 Peace only existing for those that are Isolated and yet to contact other nations. Fires spread and hatred brews is there no one that will stand for Reason and Harmony? With the world largely unexplored what societies have yet to join this deadly game? What secrets might these far land reveal? Till then this land only knows death today.


Hypothia engages in its first war, sending only two regiments to fight an entire Civilization. The Sarathai show little interest in the Blast sticks but enjoy the Blast spheres "a little too much" to quote a member of the Blaster regiment. With little time to train before their first battle neither regiment has time to become proficient with each others weapons. When they finally storm the beach they find themselves outnumbered 17:1. The battle that took 2 hours and stained the beach red used all of the Blaster Regiments ammo and cost the lives of half the Blaster Regiment. Ultimately it was the Sarathai who went to greet the native in close combat with superior armor, swords made of the finest steel, and newly acquired Blaster spheres resulted in a rage fueled carnage that even made their allies uneasy. "They were covered in blood constantly screaming and shouting, challenging them, asking for more. One kept fighting and screaming even with two spears throw him.... They may look a little human but they're monsters. Every last one."~ Alexander Ironcraft, 461. The end result was a forced retreat from the natives. The Sarathai were pursuing until Captain Torchman(who learn to fire a Blast stick one handed) ordered that they fall back to secure the landing zone. Meanwhile Colonist flock to the new islands in search of a better life.

Fjordlan sends out the very last of its ships, only fishing vessels patrol the waters around their island. Though the Pirate vessel will be able to be used once the scientists are done researching it. Odd enough the party already on shore claims to have come into contact with a single largely built , fanged, odd colored human-like creature who only wore a white lion's pelt and carried a short sword. He merely asked if they had seen a large multi headed snake beast as he needed to kill it for penance of his crime. Other ships report good sailing and easy navigation thanks to the star charts.

Mournwell Begins training and building of an army, a small group of individuals claim that Drago is attempting to seize power just like Mourn did, but are largely shunned and ignored.

Minues Suffers another tragic lose as their first expedition is surrounded and taken captive by the Mantis Slavers as they're marching away the mantises begin rocking out to "Highway to Hell". In brighten news the scientist deduce that this threat is unlikely to succeed with diplomacy and even though it's a total bummer and super lame war may be our only option. Though a select few are still pushing for peace because if we establish a clear line of communication diplomacy will have a better chance. In even brighter news the second scouting party manages to capture a live specimen and bring it back to Minues.

our first war... these savages are doing much better than predicted... we shall show them what lead feels like within their breasts.
i agree lets hope the Experimental Depatment will come up with a solution
killingstein looks coldly at Johnan, yes lets hope so... the Dagears worry me though they don't seem to be very different than the beasts they fight. are you sure they can be educated, their brain seems to be only for savagery
they seem quite accepting of the knowledge we bestow upon them, as are we are of their ways of wars, it has prove useful for the training of the NA. also i believe they call them selves the Sarathai
dam what they care, as long as they help win this war, i'll let them live

Faster Ships: with new findings in arrow dynamics and sails ships are able to reach their destination 20% faster than before. this is good news for exploration, and the adventures are very pleased.

Now that we have a live subject we shall do research, if they prove to be intelligent and can communicate to us there might be hope yet and we can transform them. I highly doubt them to be able to communicate with them. we should be able to set up some better way to combat them though.

Research : communication with the new race, work on something to make coffee in larger quantities.

Sunday, Month of Snow ~462. As winter wraps around us we can only hope that it smothers the fires of war. More of the world is being discovered but one must question if it is worth the risk to adventure forth.

Hypothian Forces are attacked again in night raid! Soon after an attempt on Captain Byron Torchman's life, a large force of Primitives burst from the treeline to engage the forces fortified on the beach. Completely surrounded the Captain rallied the men for a last stand, but after holding for 3 hours the tide of Primitives stopped and they began to retreat in a panicked manner. The cause of such fear was undoubtedly the Sarathai who halfway through the battle after suffering heavy casualties began screaming"THE RAGE ASCENDENT HAS JOINED US!" over and over increasing their combat efficiency. Despite direct orders not to the Sarathai pursued the fleeing enemy all the way back to their city. After seeing smoke rise from the horizon Captain Torchman order the blaster regiment to follow the path the Sarathai took. After reaching the City the Blaster regiment was able to secure the city for Hypothia. Regrouping with the Sarathai who were at 40% casualties they began to fortify the city. A single Sarathai was chained up and watched over by 4 others when questioned they would only responde with "He has ascended, it is too dangerous to let him roam." Captain Torchman attempted to talk to this "ascended" but he only responded with sounds only fit for a feral animal. "So how long till they all snap like that? I mean Science all mighty I swear I saw them drink the blood of victims off their swords. Maybe the demons people were going on about were just these people or things..."~Soldier gossip After The Battle of the Beach. At the Sarathai's main Island the cultural exchange continues many Hypothians are impressed with the master smithwork the Sarathai are capable of. And Sarathai pendents and blade necklaces are a big hit back in the capital. And ironweave skirts are all the rage. The Sarathai seem to be mostly interested in tech that applies to their way of life, but do enjoy trinkets and clocks sell surprisingly well. On the northern most island contact is made with a small society who are willing to trade, the ships reports back with a new metal stronger than steel called Platinum.

Fjordlan continues to survey the surrounding lands. To the far north they encountered a large society of huge grey humanoid creatures(3m tall 1.8m wide) wearing tall hats, a piece of glass on one eye, and black and white suits. Calling themselves Duntantopia they turn the Fjordlan's away for " Being not ready to share in cultural, religious, and technological ideals." The Captain of the ship while insulted knows when he is outnumbered and set sail for home. To the south with reinforcements the expedition sets off, only to find the corpse of a 17 headed serpent beast killed by boulders. To the west the unfortuanate ship sails into a port, full of Pirates. The Fjordlans fed up with sailing seize 25% of the port and are currently battling the Pirates. They send the ship back with a report that the surrounding area is filled with farms, a prime target for feeding Fjordlan's growing population. They also request immediate aid. "Don't let us have all the fun!"~ Captain Sven Thunderbrow.

Mournwell continues to bid its time who knows what mysterious projects they work on in their swamp filled with Piranha vines, Tarantula Crocs, and Koralises.

Minues breaks the language barrier between man and mantis, while its proud Knight regiment is expanded exponentially. But the original Knights remind everyone that they were knight before it was cool. After an Interrogation of the subject they learn that the Mantis people call themselves Mulchi and come from the kingdom of Black Sabbion. The General leading the forces against the people of Minues is known as General Iron Mantis, directly appointed by Queen Mercury. He also sings "We are the Champions" then guts himself while the guards are distracted. on a brighter note with all the improvements being done to appease everyone most people secretly agree that the council is doing good. Because of this a Population boom occurs.

The council meets. "As always we meet up today this week to converse over the matters at hand, I assume we are all ready." says Empress Lorely. "You know we don't need to meet this much Ms lorely," saying Ms lorely in quotation marks, continuing "I still have to do all of the work reports you sent us all out to do on our subsections and it's much harder then you think to get information in a common consensus with our people even if I am a bhikkhu." Rising the voice reveals himself as Andy Hunter. Giggling a little the Empress says "Being from the region you are in i'm shocked you get any work done at all, all these hipster are more into things such as dubstep and moombahton, I could have you excommunicated for that type of heresy if there wasn't such large leaps in R&D for your section, now please can you sit down we have a meeting to attend to as you know as normal." Clearing her throat and having a sip of water says "As normal we will start with..." and with that the meets starts and end without a hitch, not really changing much but still getting the work done that is needed to run in secret and still have control. The one thing that the meeting did decide on that might change the course of what we know is to send the new knights along with some of the old down to the Mantis with a few assassins and diplomats who broke the language barrier in the first place and try and see what they wish of us and see if all out war to bend these people to our will was needed or not, our religion after all infects all given time.

Movement: Besides sending the knights down to try and talk to the mantis, however not very hopefully that this will work we send scouts to section 9 of the map to see if the inhabitants know of the legendary hipster music style of Rise Against.

Steam! a new power! Rikard Otto was the first man who found a way to pressurize steam above atmospheric conditions, thus creating a high pressure environment. This new way to move objects has created a new wave of inventions, such as hydraulics, and has been amazingly accepted by the public.

So it seems like the war against the Savs are going quite well thanks to our allies the Sarathai. though the fight does raise some questions. do you wish to try to answer these questions? Lord Rikard.
well they seem to be accepting of the knowledge threat we bestow upon them as we are of theirs. though the main problem is that they seem to be born for war, their sharp reflexes are just as sharp as their blades, another problem is this uncontrolled battle rage that they enter, this Ascendency. it is this that raises the question what makes them different from the savs? I theorize that the difference is the willingness that I spoke of earlier, because they wish to improve and learn, they can be civilized. and that is what makes them different from the Savs.
very nicely worded I believe that we will work well together. I wish Lord Killingstein shared your acceptance of the Sarathai.

Lord Rikard Otto: born in a small costal community to a family of Gun makers. he was found to be quick in figuring out how to craft guns and more specifically the parts. he became the best gun smith in the region, and his families pride, he soon gained an interest in clock making to and started making small toys out of clock parts for the children. the towns people soon gave him the nick name the "Machinist" because of his proficiency for machines. at age of 32 his interests split off once again and became interested in steam. after a few experiment he found that he could put more steam into a container because steam is not as fixed as once believed. it could be "compressed" into containers and this compression would push as the container moving it.

captain Byron Torchman: originally a simple soldier in the Nations’ Army Defensive division. as there were no attackers he trained with the blast stick and sword, and he soon became the best line man with a sword, and was one of the few who respected the sword. he was invited to join the Guild of the old ways for his mastery of an archaic weapon. then the Counsel announced it was time. time to refind the land of our ancestors. he was sweep up in the national drive to explore the plane. though he was not the first he was the most effective at communicating with the Sarathai. he was amazed that the old ways were so prevalent here it was into their very physiology. so when the call was made for a brave line man to fight a Sarathai Sword master in single combat, he was the first and only to take such an honor. though the fight was hard he proved to be victorious, though with one less arm. it is at that moment that he gained the respect of the Sarathai and became a national hero. after being given a custom made hand cannon, and new prothstestic to hold his shield he immediately was sent off to find new cultures of the old ways. he is currently in Savland fighting the Savs.

smoke walkers: highly trained and sharp eyed individuals armed with the new long rifle. they are trained the shoot with accuracy never before seen in the plane, and to be able to hide and move with ghost like abilities. the only knowledge of the smoke walker is the cloud and thunder made when their gun fires, it is then that they retreat and set up a new. (thus their name) upon initiation they are given their rifle and their seeing array

line men: after the war with the savs it was deemed that the line breakers needed more protection, so they were given tallsheilds designed to stick in the ground and strap to each other to form a wall. they were also spiked to make chargers think twice about going through or over them. in addition their new shields they were also given light weight leather armor made from the newly discovered boars, and reinforce with steel plates at vital points. and to protect their core and most precious craniums new steel breast plate and helmets were made

Aleric we have work from the west that there is a pirate city with fertile land that we are currently underway siege of, but our men require aid. Also the new mining techniques have been developed along with faster ships, the thunder guns will be done being researched soon. The men to the west report of a fanged man who kills humongous snakes, and the northwest tells of a land of people who look down apon our technology and culture and turn us away.

Yesss! finally somewhere we can test the new strength of our country. Send all of the boats we can afford to the west. As for the mining, have most of the men who can mine get to it, we need resources for our next plan of action. Put the faster ship design into the the new raiding ships, and prepare to outfit them with the thunder guns. As for the east, this fanged man seems like a threat if there are more of him, he will be a humongous threat, send the men from the northeast to aid them. And for the civilization we encountered to the north, we will have to wait for them.

Research: beter comunication.
Build: tons of mining, standing army outfitted with shields axes and throwing spears.
Actions: send more ships to the west, send one of the northeastern ships to territory 9 and one to 15

Bladewarden Thestus at Athor Sin commands researchers to outfit ships. He states in a latter to Drago that he intends to send out a scouting party of assassins to the North.
