13 spots to choose from to encourage exploration and reduce meta gaming the world is left blank, I have a master map that has everything on it. Most of you should know the drill post your civilization and lay claim to a numbered territory. If the area bordering your land is blue that means your next to ocean. If the area is white that means land. Lightblue borders means glacier ice. Wavy lines are fertile valleys which increase population growth. Mountain territories increase metal and gem yield. Naturally the closer you are to the top or bottom of the map the colder the territory.

Now you must have one Boon(benefit) and one bane(disadvantage) of equal power. You may get a second Boon at the cost of another bane.

Any questions PM, message me on facebook, or text me.

CONTRY NAME: People of the Land [PL] (subject to change)
TERRITORY NUMBER: 7
COUNTRY COLOR: Dark Green
BACKSTORY: the people who were to settle this land were originally outcasts of the surrounding people, who after being excommunicated found the valley. They attempted to settle these lands but the cold winter soon saw them begin to die of hunger and frost. The local protectors of the forest, having been watching them, took pity upon the people. They began to leave them food and direct them towards caves to keep safe. The people survived the winter but the protectors, all dryads and Treants, had reviled themselves. They feared attack like all the other times, they had helped outsiders. The people instead thanked their saviors, and asked what the protectors wanted in return. The protectors asked for nothing more than that they see that everything is a living being created by the land, and if they care for the land the land will care for them.

The people of the land are a grouping of villages that follow the same religion, and philosophies. The villages (called groves) have recently united under the Elders, a council of chosen representatives from each grove and headed by the oldest of all the treants, Elder Green. There is a great magical power in the valley causing all living things in the valley to be magical in some way, including the people. Philosophers do not know how this has happened as the original dissidents had no magic. When asked the valley people just say that it is the land providing. With this power and their new found unity, the people of the land have came out of their exile and they are eager to see how outsiders praise the land.

STRENGTHS: all people are magically inclined, strong druidic powers
WEAKNESS: technologically behind, lost the knowledge to melt and refine metals

Accept the Flower of peace, and see the beauty of the land

COUNTRY NAME: miststone
TERRITORY NUMBER: 6
COLOR:CYAN
BACKSTORY

Miststone is set up in a Jarl(yarl) system of 10 Jarls ( bloodline) and a Uberjarl (Krann Suzerain of house Suzerain), the Uberjarl having more authority than the others generally being more skilled, stronger, and better at tactics than the others, the Uberjarl is elected by the council of Jarls every 120 moons at the festival of the gods on the glorious, great mount Isak. He is elected by a vote of the 10 Jarls whom vote at the peak of the Mountain in the great stone chamber hall of the old. Each Jarl controls a battleship which he goes on raids with, the Uberjarl sailing on the great battleship which he is only allowed to sail on in times of war; the more powerful Jarl may have additional lesser raiding crafts under his command. The people of Miststone have a polytheistic Religon and they believe that anyone who passes through the great stone doorways in the hall of the old at Mount Isak is chosen by the gods (rule by divine right wink.gif .

Miststone is a very mysterious people relying on raiding for the majority of their income unbeknownst to most that they are the raiders (secretive). their technology is slightly set back due to the slow development of sedentary agriculture and the formation of a civilization. Their ship tactics are un paralleled along with their raiding skills, there are none other like them in all of the land. The people like merrymaking, they take every chance to celebrate they can get, and they aren't hostile towards everyone they just enjoy raiding. They were originally a band of nomadic people who came together and begun to develop their own culture, now they are very focused on their culture and traditions, they are very important to the Miststone people. They have a complicated rune language but only have a 30% literacy rate; people prefer to speak face to face.

European family system, political theory is very highly involved (lots of political theory lots of polital shenanagans), technology low, philosophy is taboo, patriarchy centered, science is bleh you can always raid for it, gunboat diplomacy ftw

STRENGTHS: Best shipman/raiders, competing noble houses
WEAKNESSES: Low starting tech, warring noble houses

Country Name: The Arkedon Dominion
Territory Number: 5
Country Color: Fuchsia

History:

Three hundred years ago the lands known today as the Arkedian plains were little more than scattered hamlets. Its inhabitants were divided but content, and lived in an age of relative peace. On an autumn night historians refer to as "The Harvest Cascade" farmers tending to their fields gazed up into the dusk sky to witness the stars themselves raining down upon them. A massive meteor shower took place that night, causing untold destruction and bathing the countryside in a mysterious debris. In the aftermath of the cascade, the battered population emerged from the wreckage to an incredible sight. Strange rocks were found amidst the devastation and were harvested by the survivors. These rocks were in fact crystals that pulsed with an unknown power and imbued whoever harnessed them with divine energy. In the years that followed the people of the Arkedian plains learned to utilize the crystals into tools and weapons. This new-found innovation lead to a massive mineral rush as the various villages scrambled to amass as much as this new ore as they could. What followed was an age of strife and conflict known as the Crystal Wars. Empires rose and fell in a state of constant flux as the land cracked and convulsed under the indomitable thirst for the miracle gems.

As the wars raged on and the fields grew rich with the blood of the fallen, a legendary warlord known by the name Arkedon rose to power and began a bloody but decisive campaign to unite the fractured people. In six short years he was able to do the impossible and bend the warring factions to his rule, uniting them under one banner. What followed was a golden age for the Arkedian people. In this time of peace and stability the people were able to unite and prosper. Great cities were founded, roads charted, and incredible monuments were erected as a cultural and economic revolution took place. Great strides were made in the fields of engineering and science as the scholars learned to harness and understand the mysterious star crystals. For fifty years this kingdom flourished under Arkedon's reign until the great king's unfortunate passing. Before the Star King's body had time to even grow cold, his great generals and many children began fighting amongst themselves for the right to wear his crown upon their brow. After much infighting, a civil war broke out between the heirs and the mighty empire was divided once more into five smaller kingdoms.

For years the Sovereign kingdoms warred and feuded in a never ending cycle of bile and bloodshed. There were no great achievements in this era of fading light, only suffering and strife. The once great empire was nothing more than a shadow of its former self, a playground for warring nobles to gamble with the lives of their subjects. It was not until the rise of the Kirin'Var, or Crystal King in Arkedian tongue, that the wartorn nations would finally find peace and order. Records of the Kirn'var's past are spotty at best, and in many cases downright mythical. Holding no known allegiance to any of the five noble houses, the crystal king seemed to have emerged from thin air with a fiercely loyal and brutally effective militia in tow. One by one the warring kingdoms were toppled before his marching army in a ten year long crusade to unite the land. By the end of the unification wars, each of the great kingdoms had been subjugated. Fearing the destruction of their lineage, the noble families swore fealty to the Kirin'var in exchange for amnesty and a place in his new empire. A tense peace gradually befell the newly minted Dominion, a peace not felt since the reign of Arkedon himself.

Although the Arkedon dominion is experiencing an era of calm and stability not seen in centuries, it is far from the golden kingdom it once was. Old rivalries never truly die, and bad blood still courses through the veins of the Empire. The five noble houses feud and war with one another to this day, their destructive tendencies only held in check by the will of the Kirin'var himself. Under the guidance of the Crystal King, the Dominion is ready to rise once again and usher in a new age order and light. With the heavens themselves empowering them, the Dawn of the Dominion begins.

(TLDR: The Arkedon Dominion is a highly militaristic and expansionist nation composed of 5 warring kingdoms and ruled by a pretty scary dude. The entire kingdom is pretty much held together by his will alone, and while the different noble houses won't go to war with each other for fear of reprisal, they're pretty damn good at sabotage and being sneaky dicks. Oh yeah, they also have crazy awesome magic sky-crystals that draws and stores magic from the surrounding world like a battery. Expect all kinds of awesome crystal-tech through the course of the game)

-Noble houses of Arkedon-

-The Diamond house of Craid: The oldest and most venerable of the noble houses of the Dominion, members can trace their lineage back to the great Arkedon himself. Craid holds the honor of hosting the first vanguard of sentinels and is known for being the most martially inclined of all the houses. Craid has recently faced internal problems as a large portion of their successors and heirs were decimated during the Modun wars.
-The Emerald house of KelMondris: One of the more dubious of the high houses, even by noble standards. The Kelmondris are infamous for their skill in infiltration and espionage. Indiscriminate in their choice of targets, this house is both despised for their ability to steal even the most safeguarded of secrets, and loved for their tendency to sell such secrets to the rival families. KelMondris has recently found themselves in hot water when one of their younger members, A Valice Kelmondris, was caught in a recent attempt on the Kirin'var's life. The heir apparent was publicly executed and made into a holiday, causing to the house to lose much of its influence in the aftermath. (Spies)
-The Saphire house of Erabor: (Merchants)
-The Amethyst house of Tiris'for: (mages)
-The Ruby house of Crimsonshard: Holders of the largest stores of Star-crystals in the Dominion pre-unification, and currently controllers of the largest mining industry in Arkedian lands. With the discovery and development of Etherium, house Crimsonshard has recently garnered much favor from the Kirin'var and have been granted control of of the Modun Manaforge.

Boons:
-Large magical reserves and star-crystal tech.

Banes:
-Very fractious noble class composed of five noble houses, full of backstabbing and political maneuvering

[Completed projects]

-Crystal-based weaponry
-Wizardy magics
-Architectural engineering
-Starmetal armor
-Crystal rifles

(Building)

NAME: Jungle
COLOR: Deep green
NUMBER: 12

For hundreds of thousands of years, longer than any mere human can presume to remember with their short and insignificant history, there stood a jungle on the fertile earth of this unexplored land. It was a place untouched by civilization. If any human has ever set foot in these lands, it had never been recorded.

The jungle was fresh, verdant, bursting and teeming with life. It was a paradise. The purest form of nature in all its beauty and power. Trees, rivers, waterfalls, flowers, fruits, insects, boars and fish and innumerable strange new species never seen by man; all made their comfortable home here. All was peaceful and quiet.

But then a boat sailed past.

A boat. A horrid, creaking mass of decapitated trees, of foul gunpowder and warped metal, barrels packed with swine and cattle screaming out in dismembered, discordant disharmony. And humans, covered in strange furs and woven cottons as if to hide their bodies from the life-giving air. Gawking and gibbering unnecessary, formulaic sounds, making hurried marks upon wide, flat skins as they passed the nameless land.

The jungle saw. The jungle heard. The jungle felt. And it was angry.

Imagine the humans' surprise when their furs began biting them, when their mast began to branch out and blossom and bear fruit, when they heard the thumping and bellowing of the reanimated, repurposed animals that had been their food stores. Understandably, they ran to shore.

Most of them didn't make it. The mass of eels and sharks got them first.

But there was one who did. One who was allowed to live. The captain. Frantically limping up the shore, clutching his bleeding leg, looking up, his eyes widening in surprise and awe as the beautiful, pale-skinned naked woman walked slowly toward him, flowers growing in her footsteps, her sharp, powerful glowing green eyes locked on his.

He fell to his knees. She placed her hand on his head. He gasped. She smiled. His eyes rolled up into his head, and his body went limp. And she learned everything she needed to know about the humans.

Their great ambitions of taming nature, of raising towering structures, of mastering the world and building up their civilizations.... they would have to be reminded of their place as children of the earth.

And now the jungle, the jungle that had stood peacefully for countless untold years, is spreading. Spreading fast. Spreading faster than any jungle has spread before, changing and warping the environment around it. And this new jungle is no paradise. It is hostile, thick, spiky, full of poison and thorns and predatory monsters, reflecting the anger of the Earth. The jungle will not rest until it has restored the balance of nature and punished the humans for their hubris. Even if it has to return every last one of them to the soil that gave them life.

At the Start of the year 6200 of the ancient imperial calendar we begin a new age marked by a complete solar eclipse. Which will be the greatest nation? Who will shape this new age? Can any of them spread their influence across the world?

Stating tech is at the end of Medieval Era. Everyone has as of now 3 research slots and 4 build slots. A build slot can be used to increase natural expansion of territory. You can use research slots to expedite research but it does not double research speed so it is inefficient. Everyone has 2 explorers and 2 standing armies starting unless they have a special condition.

People of the Land come across the boarding nations of the People's Association of Kall or PAK(Dark red) and the Kingdom of Heavens or KoH(Bluish grey). PAK seems to be a democratic nation of Elves and sentient large snakes that call themsselves Kallor. Their nation is covered in smithies and machine shops. While KoH is a Theocratic nation of Eaglemen who obsess over innovation and have great mines scattered throughout their lands with plentiful precious metals.

Miststone finds the nation of People's Association of Kall or PAK(Dark red). PAK seems to be a democratic nation of Elves and sentient large snakes that call themsselves Kallor. Their nation is covered in smithies and machine shops.

The Arkedon Dominion discovers three nations at its boarders. To the north the discover a large territory of slugmen farmers under the protection of a large fighter's guild of Minotaurs, they refer to themselves as the Blood Maul Fighter's guild(tan). To the west is the Aristocratic Republic of Modun, a proud human nation whose main exports or are slaves and raw materials. Finally to the south is the Dwemar Federation ruled by a council of chiefs they form a large nation of Humans, Elves, and Dwarves. From the Dwemar federation comes exotic fabrics and fish. The Aristocratic Republic of Modun is currently at odds with the other two nations, and is currently at war with the Blood Maul Fighter's Guild.

????????????????? the island nation sits by itself.

The Jungle spreading as fast as it could encountered no humans.

And so it begins be sure to use all your build and research slots any questions PM me or send me a text. Good luck everyone, try not to let another Black Sabbathion form.

Grow my friend. We have lost much of the world but gained much within, may we be symbiotic?
~diplomat to the PAK and KOH

-begin relations to the PAK and KOH, ask of their knowledge of the lands (actual lands around us)

Trailwalkers- all things have a connection with the land but a rare few can hear the land talk to them, and listen. These rare beings know what is over the next ridge in a place they have never been, they never go hungry as they seem to always know where the fruit bearing trees are, or the nuts hidden. We call these people Trailwalkers, and they are our eyes upon new lands.

The land loves us, and we it. ~defining tenant of the Land

Spring of 6200.

Reylia sets sail discovering no nearby land masses. (Blondie you forgot to PM about what your secret ?????? are.)

Miststone's explorers return having run into dangerous hill trolls, but under the courageous leadership of Captain Marcus Fran Imeil they return with the heads of 4 beasts. The monsters size seems to range from 10 to 12 ft and weighing about 1500 lbs. They fought with crude weapons but showed little intellect. Meanwhile the southern explorers are shown up by the Diplomats of House Van Karlo as they get a excellently detailed map from PAK. The Van Karlo diplomats also inform of two other nations in lands beyond the so called people of the land, who bend nature to their will but seem to shun progress, and The Kingdom of Heavens, made up of solely birdmen and seem to be highly religious but have many precious metals.

The people of the land discover a great lake in the tundra to the north that has Mermaids living within. To the east they have found a massive river that leads out to the sea. Through communicating with PAK Elder Green is informed of the land of Miststone, which is full of humans.

The Arkedon Dominion's scouts to the south have discovered ancient ruins filled with gold coins, truly a blessing as the treasury doubles in size. Of the civilization that existed in these ruins there is no sign. Arkedon spies are almost immediately caught by Modun authorities, they demand that Arkedon pay in penance towards Modun. The Blood Maul Guild's beef with Modun according to your diplomats, is territory dispute both had laid claim to a strip of land in between the two nations. Dispite warnings from Modun the Guild allowed the slugmen to settle the land, Modun responded by capturing the settlers and enslaving them. After this the Guild declared war officially due to several of their members were slain/captured in this action. But your diplomats believe both sides were looking for an accuse to declare war.

The Jungle expands outward encountering no resistance. The flocks of Albatross find to the west more land and a mountain range but no humans. While to the east is still a vast sea.

Fur-tail sat upon the shore, of a lake larger than he had ever seen in the valley. It went all the way to the horizon. He had heard of seas, but those were made of poisoned water, this was clean.
Though an amazing sight he was not on the shore for the view. Rather he wished to see one of these man fish, soaring-bird said he saw. The sun was setting though. Fur-tail thinks soaring-bird was lying, but then as he was gazing at the sun reflecting in the water he saw it. A head, of a woman.
Fur tailed got up and moved closer to the water, his feet getting wet from the small waves. And they’re in the water! A large fish with arms and a head. He ran into the water. Treading water now.
"Grow my friend. I am Fur-tail, from the people of the land. I only wish to talk"
And with that the mermaids moved to him...

~try to commune with the mermaids and see if they love the land (or in their case the water) as we do

"Welcome to the People's association of Kall. May we march towards the future together." the PAK diplomat says with distain dripping off his tongue, as he stares at the trail walkers before him. In their furs made from their kills and their bone and wood weaponry.
"we thank, for welcoming usss into your landsss." fire-scale hisses to the diplomat. "We must ask though, where is your forest, the land said there was to be a forest here."
"Ha ha ha! You jest surely there hasn't been a forest here since my grandfather chopped down the last tree 80 years ago"
Fire-scale is shocked at this blatant attack against the land, but then he remembers they are those from before. They do not know better.
He sighs, at the imbalance "my friend you need not to kill the trees to build, you merely need to guide them. In my land we shape the trees to be our houses, so that we are protected and we help them grow"
The diplomat stands quizzical at this power "you can control the trees? How?"
"The land, tells us how, and we can teach you"

~begin showing the people of PAK the way of the Land by sending Shapers and Healers, so show them how to live in symbiosis.

"The Sky is open to us all my child. What can we do for you." father Alkin the XVIIIth says to the new comers. He was already ready to preach the sky and he must admit, it is a bit tiring to talk to believers day after day. But these people are new they have not heard the word, it is so exciting to find converts in waiting.
"Grow my friend, we are from the valley to the north, we wish to show you the way of the land." says a practically large bird man, dressed in furs and caring many scars upon his body.
The Land! No it is the Sky! These people speak heresy! Father Alkin calms himself, anger is no way to convert. The sky is open and so shall we be.
"I-I am sorry but land is but below the sky and thus the sky rules it as the sky rules all. It is the sky that gives us all that we have, from the sky we gain water so we may never go thirsty, from the sky we gain the protection of or foes so that we may never fear, and from the sky we gain our knowledge, so that we may rise up above the others." Father Alkin looks down from the glorious sky, filled with the knowledge that the sky is the one true way. He sees the bird man smiling at this. Ah good his first convert! It wasn’t that hard, thank the heavens!
I am glad, that you also see the breath of our mother, but I am saddened that you look upon her skin with such distain. Is it not from this skin that you draw your rocks from?" Father Alkin is a gasp this isn't the words of a convert. "We must be as the lands below and the sky above open and endless." that last remark that was from the book of High father Elhir the XXth, but he followed the exiles to their death. Could it be that these people be from the exiles? Dissidents from one of the most holy men known. At that moment Father Alkin did something he had never done before he doubted his faith.
